A plan is starting to come together…

Posted in Uncategorized by Simon Bisson on August 15, 2006

To the west coast of the US at the end of September, beginning of October for Intel’s IDF and SalesForce.com’s Dreamforce (with a week in between for socialising and visiting Silicon Valley companies).

Then three weeks in New Zealand (possibly at the same time as ).

Next: to plan the the logistics.

The first question is: why the hell is it more expensive to fly from SF to NZ than from the UK to NZ? (FX: looks at map)

The Empire still has a few uses…

    San Franciscans have more sense.

Also, I didn’t realise you could fly there from SFO now – it used to be LAX only.

Must add up for Gary these days…

And yes, a fairly recent addition to the schedules.

Air NZ’s round-trip thingy was good value. Not sure they go to SFO though — it may just be LAX

Isn’t this the point where you buy a round-the-world ticket and fly UK -> SF -> NZ -> ??? -> UK and have it work out being cheaper than the normal returns?

For instance, London -> SF -> Auckland -> Singapore -> London is a completely legal routing on VS/SQ/NZ’s The Great Escapade. The package costs £860-1045 in Y and £3996 in J, which I can’t imagine not being competitive.
